Alan Butler, Chairman
Emeritus Professor of Clinical Surgery, University of the West Indies . He has retired after being active for more than 30 years. He is a Founding Member of the Trinidad and Tobago Institute of the West Indies .
Baldwin Mootoo , Dep. Chairman
Dr Mootoo has been Head of the Department of Chemistry at the St. Augustine Campus of the UWI, Dean and University Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Deputy Principal of the Trinidad Campus. He is now Professor Emeritus, Chemistry.
Fitzroy Baptiste , Secretary
Fitz Baptiste has had a long career in History, African and Asian Studies at the University of the West Indies , St. Augustine . With Mary King, he spear-headed the initial experiment of TTIWI's Open College . Now as Secretary of the Board, he is busy deepening the concept.
Lloyd Best, Institute Director
Lloyd Best has been Chief Executive of Tapia from its inception. Best has all along been Director of TTIWI and Managing Editor of the T & T Review .
Horace Broomes , Attorney
Horace Broomes was a career Diplomat for eighteen years before taking up the practice of law some fifteen years ago. He has also served the country for a brief period as a Member of the Senate and a Government Minister.
Winston Riley, Tapia Chairman
Mr Riley is an engineer who runs a regional construction consultancy out of Port of Spain . He was educated at the UWI, St Augustine and is a long standing participant in Tapia activities going back to the early 1970s.
Angela Cropper
Ms Cropper's career has been in policy analysis and management for sustainable development through a variety of channels, among them the CARICOM Secretariat. The World Conversation Union and the UN. Angela works now exclusively on a voluntary basis, locally and globally. She is the Director of The Cropper Foundation .
Vanus James
After graduating in Economics from, UWI, St. Augustine , Dr James worked in the Tapia office on Cipriani Blvd , Port of Spain . He later completed his doctoral thesis at the New School of Social Research in New York before returning to teach at his alma mater. He now works as a Consultant for international agencies and governments. In his home island, Tobago, he is Founding Member of the Policy, Research and Development Institute
Marjorie Thorpe
Dr Thorpe is a consultant attached to the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago . She was the first coordinator of the Women and Development Studies programme at the University of the West Indies . She has been T&T Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Deputy Director of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), and UNDP's Resident Representative and Coordinator of the United Nations Country Team for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
Gregory McGuire
Mr McGuire is an Energy Economist who has worked in that capacity at the Central Bank and at the National Gas Corporation. He is currently seconded to the Dept of Economics, UWI, St Augustine to establish a programme in Energy Economics.
Kirk Meighoo
Kirk is a lecturer in the social sciences, a newspaper columnist and a political analyst. He undertook his doctoral work at the University of Hull and then joined TTIWI as a Research Fellow.
